Copying Emails Over To Another Mailbox

If you are finishing your studies and want to save the emails on your Oxford mailbox to another mailbox, there are a few ways of doing this.

Transferring to a Microsoft Account (on Windows)

Easiest way to do this is using the Outlook Desktop app.

Step 1

Download the Outlook app and log into both your Oxford mailbox and the mailbox you want to transfer your data into.

Step 2

Go to File > Open & Export. Click on Import/Export.

Step 3

Select “Export to a file”

Step 4

Select “Outlook Data File (.pst)”

Step 5

Select the mailbox to export from (your Oxford one.) If you want your entire mailbox, click on your email address at the top.

Step 6

Select where you want your export file to be created in. You can leave it at the default, which will be in Documents.

Wait for the export to be completed.

Step 7

Open the Import/Export screen again (Step 2.) This time, select “Import from another program or file”.

Step 8

Select “Outlook Data File (.pst)” again.

Step 9

Select where your export file is. If you put it somewhere other than the default in Documents, click on Browse to find your file.

Step 10

Select the folder to import from. Choose the top folder “Outlook Data File” if you want to transfer your entire mailbox. Then, select your non-Oxford account from the dropdown that says “Import items into the same folder in:”

When the process finishes, your Oxford mailbox will be copied over to your non-Oxford Microsoft account.

Transferring to a Microsoft Account (on Mac)

Step 1

This feature is currently not supported in the New Outlook view on the Outlook Mac app, so you first need to make sure you are in the old view.

If your Outlook window looks like the one shown below, you are in the New Outlook view, as shown in the toggle on the upper right. Switch this toggle off to access the import/export features.

The old Outlook view should look like this:

Step 2

From the menu bar at the top of the screen, go to File > Export. Click Continue.

Step 3

Choose where you want to save the export file. Click Save.

Step 4

Wait for the export to finish and click Finish when done.

Step 5

From the menu bar at the top of the screen, go to File > Import. Select “Outlook for Mac archive file (.olm)”

Step 6

Select your export file from where you saved it before in Step 3.

Step 7

Wait for the import to finish and click Finish.
